The short version. Siglos shows gold prices. It works without an account, and if you never sign in we hold nothing that identifies you. From version 1.4.0 the app sends anonymous usage statistics, which you can turn off in Settings. Signing in is optional and exists only for price alerts.
What stays on your device#
These are kept on your phone, and deleting the app deletes them. Only the market, karat, unit and language you chose are reported, as categories, in the usage statistics described below, and not even that if you turn them off:
- Your chosen market, currency, weight unit, karat and making-charge percentage
- Theme, language and chart-range preferences
- Any extra currencies you choose to see Home's prices in. They are never sent anywhere, not even in the usage statistics
- The latest prices you have looked at, so the app opens to a number even offline, and the one-month line the home-screen widget draws
- Any weight or amount you type into the calculator
Weights and amounts you enter are calculated on the device and are never sent anywhere.
If you choose to sign in#
Sign-in is optional. Siglos supports Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In only — we never ask you to create a password, so there is no Siglos password to lose.
When you sign in, our authentication provider (Google Firebase Authentication) receives and stores:
- A user ID that identifies your account
- The email address attached to that Apple or Google account
- The display name and profile photo on that account, if it has them
- The date you signed up and last signed in
Sign in with Apple lets you hide your email. If you choose that, we receive only Apple's private relay address and never see your real one. We do not attempt to resolve it.
We use this to recognise you across devices. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or use it to build a profile of you.
What our server sees#
The Siglos app fetches prices from our own service. Price requests carry no account identifier and are not tied to you.
If you sign in and set a price alert, the app sends our service the alert itself (market, karat, direction and price level) together with a signed proof of your sign-in, and our service stores the alert against your account identifier. To deliver the alert it also stores a device token: an anonymous address issued to your phone by Apple or Google's push service. The token is not your phone number or any other identifier of you, it is only useful for sending notifications to that one installation, and it is deleted when you sign out, when you delete your account, or when the push service reports it no longer works. The alert checks run on the price our service has already fetched; setting an alert sends nothing extra to any third party.
Our service runs on Cloudflare, which processes standard request information — including IP address — to route traffic and block abuse. This is handled by Cloudflare as our infrastructure provider and is not used by us to identify you.
Prices themselves come from a market-data provider that we query on a schedule. That provider is contacted by our server, never by your phone, so it never sees you.
If you send us feedback#
More → Send feedback is optional and works without an account. A report contains what you type, the category you pick, and, only if you choose to attach one, a screenshot you select from your photo library; the app never captures your screen by itself. The app also attaches, and shows you before you send: the app version, your phone's platform and OS version, the market and language selected, and the price the app was showing at that moment. You may add an email address so we can reply; without one the report is anonymous.
Reports are emailed to us and a copy is kept on our service so a lost email is not a lost report. To limit abuse we keep a salted hash of the sending network address for 24 hours, never the address itself. To have a report deleted, write to privacy@siglos.app quoting the time you sent it.
Usage statistics#
From version 1.4.0 the app sends usage statistics to Google Analytics for Firebase, so we can see how many people use Siglos and which features they reach for. It is on by default, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings → Share usage analytics; when it is off, nothing is sent.
What is sent: an identifier generated for this installation of the app (not your name, email, account or advertising ID, and new if you reinstall); when the app is opened and for how long; which tab is showing; and named actions — changing market, pinning a karat, changing the chart range or weight unit, using the calculator, creating or deleting a price alert (its market, karat and direction, never its price level), opening an alert notification, signing in or out, deleting your account, sending feedback (its category only), sharing, finishing or skipping the tour, being asked to update, and whether a home-screen widget is placed. On Android it also records when the app is removed. With these go the market, karat, unit and language you chose, whether you are signed in, the app version, the device model and operating system, and an approximate country that Google derives from the network address without storing the address.
What is never sent: your account ID or email, any price, any alert level, anything you type, your location, or your advertising ID. On Android the app removes the advertising-ID permission, and on iOS it does not use Apple's advertising identifier and never shows a tracking prompt. The statistics are not used for advertising, not shared for advertising, and not combined with your account.
Google processes this data for us under the Firebase terms.
Advertising#
This version of Siglos shows no ads and runs no advertising tracking.
If we introduce advertising in a future version, we will update this policy before that version ships, and on iOS you will be asked for permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt first. Declining will not limit the app.
What we never collect#
- Location. The app never requests it; you pick your market from a list.
- Contacts, camera, microphone or calendar. Photos only reach us as a screenshot you yourself attach to a feedback report.
- Payment-card or bank details. Siglos does not process payments.
- Your advertising ID, on either platform.
- Your holdings. Nothing you calculate is recorded or transmitted.
Deleting your account#
You can delete your Siglos account from inside the app: tap the account icon in the top corner of any screen, then Delete account. Deletion removes your authentication record, every price alert you created and the device tokens registered to deliver them. It is permanent and takes effect immediately; we keep no shadow copy.
You can also simply sign out, which leaves the app fully usable. Uninstalling the app removes everything held on the device but does not by itself delete an account you created — use the in-app deletion for that, or write to us.
How long we keep things#
Account records are kept until you delete your account. Usage statistics are kept at event level for two months, the Google Analytics default, and only as aggregate reports after that. Cloudflare's operational logs are short-lived and are retained under Cloudflare's own retention schedule. Device data lasts until you clear it or uninstall.
Children#
Siglos is a financial-information tool intended for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Where data is processed#
Siglos serves the Gulf, South Asia, the Philippines and the United States, and our providers operate globally, so information may be processed outside your country — including in the United States and the European Union. We rely on those providers' own safeguards for such transfers.
Your rights#
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to the address below and we will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live — for example under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, the GDPR, or similar laws — you may also have the right to complain to a data-protection regulator.
Third parties we rely on#
- Google Firebase — authentication, only if you sign in; usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase), unless you turn them off
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, only if you use it
- Cloudflare — hosting for our price service
Changes#
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will update the effective date above and say so in the app before the change takes effect.
